If only we could all buy all new clothes every time we want to go out of town. Ha! Some people probably do this, but in my house, that wouldn’t fly with Mr. Rainey. I do like to feel fresh and new with my wardrobe when I go out of town, but that doesn’t have to mean dollars spent. Rotate some old items in your closet and add them with a different layer for “freshness”. To me it adds to the flare of breaking out of the day to day routine.
When I start packing for a trip, I like to first figure out weather (kind of a given), and then find what I like in my closet to match it and the destination. I try to keep my closet fresh with basics. Meaning, if you see a shirt on sale for $5 that can be worn 5 different ways, grab it. You don’t have to have immediate places to wear, but knowing you’ve got a deal and a basic to create outfits from is how you establish a functioning closet. That way I can build easily on these basics within my closet or only have to grab 1-2 “new” things to complete an outfit idea I have. Also, family and friends are awesome. I can not count how many times I’ve asked for pieces to complete an outfit from either friends, mom, or sister. Grows your closet ten times without even purchasing.
First step in my packing extravaganza is making a list. I need 2 flying outfits, 2 night outfits, and 2 day outfit. Listing it out like this makes the overall view seem less daunting. One of the flying outfits, I would like to stay in once I make it to the destination so looking for comfort but cute enough to stay in. The two night outfits are where I will wear some of my hardly worn pieces, but the day time/flying I will use the same shirts/pants/shoe combo in different ways. Example: same jeans both days or the same shoes both days. Cuts down on packing and just simplifies across the board.
Here are the finalists! Made sure my outfits can be changed up with the shoes and jackets I’m taking in case I want to make some last minute changes. Make sure to follow me on Instagram to see any last minute tweaks to these the day of! Have a great day peaches!
P.S. – A lot of these goodies came from TJ Maxx…ergo, no links. Comment if you want me to post links to similar pieces for anything specific! 🙂 If the item came from a boutique and they are no longer carrying the item, I still inked the boutique for you to follow for their goodies!
