2018 FLEW BY. Like I blinked and it was gone. This year, I want to be more intentional with where I am headed in life in general, but also my family as a whole, myself as a mom, this blog, etc. I really want to focus on completing the things we set out to do.
Before I filled out my bucket list, I looked at all the things I knew were going to happen this year, and that list in itself was already so exciting. My husband and I are celebrating 5 years of being married, my son is turning 2, we’ve started new classes at church, we have multiple trips already booked, we purchased a boat late last summer and I can’t wait to use it all summer long, and the list goes on. The goal for my bucket list is to make sure all the life happening between the scheduled things doesn’t start controlling us. That we are in the driver seat, well the passenger seat with God driving, but to be more proactive than reactive. Last year was a doozy. We learned hard lessons that I know I will share with you all at some point, and undoubtedly will have lessons to learn this year. However, regardless of the lessons, easy or complicated, I want to start out with my eyes, calendar, and energy set towards what is on my heart. So here is my more general bucket list for 2019!
In 2019, as a family I would like to:
- travel at least 1x/month – Doesn’t have to be far, but just get out of our comfort zone once a month. Our best conversations are on the road getting to our destination.
- find a home – Currently in a rent house and excited to be looking for a forever home.
- plan well – Covering everything from meal planning, budget planning, calendar setting, etc. We are a pretty spontaneous family which is not wrong, but I do think there could be some balance for us here.
- take more evening walks – This is one of my favorite ways to spend time with Shelton, Cason, and our dog deuce! Want to make a priority of it.
As a mom/wife/friend/woman/blogger, I want to:
- not second guess myself – God believes in me. Shelton believes in me. Cason believes in me. Why don’t I as much as they do? Time to make a change.
- Less selfish wife – If he wants chili for dinner, is it going to hurt me to wait for the meal I wanted until tomorrow? No.
- Learn to play guitar – Always been on my list, so why not this year? Any suggestions on a guitar to start with?
- Be more creative with activities within the house for Cason weekly – painting, crafts, puzzles, whatever it may be!
- Follow through with all of my goals, not just the big ones – We dream big at the Rainey house, but some times the medium and small sized goals get lost in the hustle and bustle. First up, finishing books I’ve previously started and didn’t complete.
- Eat lunch or have coffee with a friend once a week – No limit of location or time, house or out, doesn’t matter. Making time for those that matter is worth it.
My favorite thing about goals, bucket lists, etc. is they can always be added to. I like this start to the year. What about you? What’s your vision for 2019?
