I was able to get away for the weekend with my mother in law and sister in law for my MIL’s birthday. She chose Waco so that we could do all the Magnolia things and that’s exactly what we did. I have received so many messages about it being on everyone’s bucket list and to that I say, move it to the top.
We pulled into Waco at about 3ish, picked up my SIL from the hotel, and drove straight to the bakery. Dedicated. Ha! The weather was gloomy and rainy which 100 % worked in our favor. There was still a line but not near what I could imagine it being on a bright, sunny, spring day. After our short wait, a smiling face greeted us at the door, and handed us a pencil and a post card. While inside in line, you make your cupcake selections, give to the cashier when you make it to the front, and then shortly there after, receive your coffee and cupcake with every single person being so welcoming. Our favorite was the red velvet cupcake, but the Lavender Lemon was a close second for me. Also, coffee and/or hot beverages were offered at almost every turn. This was so comforting and completely nullified what could have been mood-altering temperatures outside.
Next, we walked over to the market. There’s a giant lawn area in the middle where I’m sure many families have enjoyed activities during warmer weather. Extremely family friendly environment. Would I recommend trudging the kids through the shop? Maybe not. But you can definitely leave them outside with your hubs or another friend to play on the lawn. Obviously in the colder weather, there were plenty of little kids inside and they all seemed to be doing fine. If you have the option though, outside is made for them!
The market is expertly thought over and planned. The overall theme is seen throughout every display and around every corner. It’s exactly how I think a home should make anyone feel once they walk in. I spoke to an employee for quite awhile and she brought to my attention the honey theme that went along with the umbrellas and the content of the magazine they publish coinciding with everything we were physically experiencing in the market. Beautiful. Just pure beauty. There were higher priced items as well as middle range. However, if you’re wanting to snag a deal, Magnolia warehouse on Bosque is where it’s at.
We were able to snag a table for breakfast Saturday morning at Magnolia Table. There was about a 45 min wait, but didn’t feel that long at all. There are multiple waiting areas, one to shop and one to get coffee. Heaters and covered seating outside while you wait and sip on your heart adorned peppermint mocha. The detail driven hospitality was my favorite. I watched the barista put a single candy heart on every whip cream topped drink. I watched Joanna’s mom happily walk around the entire restaurant checking on each table. Our waiter took multiple pictures for us and actually guided us to where we could get the most of the actual restaurant in our picture. There was a candle lit on the bathroom counter. There were employees with umbrellas outside in case you chose to stand out front. Homemade candy caramels are given to you at the end of your meal. I just couldn’t stop watching. It was fantastic. We got the juice flight and biscuits first and then each got a different plate. I had the avocado toast with a side of the homemade tater tots. All the yes. I don’t think you can order wrong here.
Waco as a whole was great! We stayed at Hotel Indigo and I would HIGHLY recommend it. It was a fantastic facility and is within walking distance of the Silos and downtown Waco. Since everything Magnolia based is closed on Sunday, we ventured to a coffee shop downtown before we left town and it was equally as fantastic. Café Cappuccino served up one of the best chai tea lattes I’ve ever had. I even got another one to go for the road trip.
Grab your girlfriends or go for a family weekend! You won’t regret it! I’ll be sure to share how I decorate using all of our fun Magnolia finds!
