Wasssuupppp ladies? Lol. I hope you all are having a great start to the week. I’ve always thought my voice was super low for a girls voice, until I’m on a business call and then I get oddly high pitched. But reading the first line of this paragraph in a deeper voice cracks me up.
My husband, Shelton and I are rather old school when comes to things around the house. One of the things that I truly find joy in is having dinner ready for him at night. Granted, when this doesn’t happen, my man loves a peanut butter and jelly with a tall glass of milk, so don’t think we are a 5 star restaurant around here. But I will say, having the right help around the kitchen makes this task as simple as it should be.
My 3 kitchen go-to appliances are my crock pot, instant pot, and stand mixer. The crock pot and the stand mixer were wedding gifts, holla friends and family! Then the instant pot was a amazon prime buy, holla 2 day shipping. Ha! These 3 tools are ones I use every single week. Anything that makes the dinner process smoother is welcomed for those week day meals.
The crock pot is my tool for chicken. If I’m not doing a one sheet pan chicken meal, then I will put frozen (yes, rock solid) in the crock pot, a liquid (hot sauce, franks hot wing sauce, chicken broth), and a seasoning packet (ranch, pot roast, etc.) in with it and let it cook all day. Then you can put the chicken on top of rice, a baked potato, serve veggies on the side, make a sandwich, you name it. We are actually having Mexican soup tonight from the crock pot. Pop over to my Instagram to check it out.
The stand mixer has too many tricks to list them all, but it’s my go to for baking. Cookies are a great way to say thank you to a neighbor, I love you to my husband, or congrats on making it through a Monday to myself. Putting everything into the stand mixer makes the whole process, including cooking, take less than 30 minutes. Also, for my chicken recipes from the crock pot, you can easily shred chicken in the mixer. Put your cooked chicken in the mixer (or you can boil it in water if you’re adding it to pasta or soup) and shred it up just using the regular white paddle attachment.
Last, but not least, is the instant pot. I haven’t even scratched the surface with this bad boy. We’ve cooked brisket (still perfecting this one), beans, pasta, and more. Our FAVORITE thing right now is to use it for hard boiled eggs. We count Weight Watcher points and can have a hard boiled egg for 0 points so we like to always have them on hand. It takes 7 minutes, 1 cup of water, and they are perfectly cook while being easy to peel. WINNING!
